MORE CONTROVERSY ABOUT WHY ANDRULLA BLANCHETTE
WAS NOT ALLOWED TO COMPETE AT THE 2002 MS. INTERNATIONAL
Andrulla Blanchette arrived in Columbus
last February fully prepared (and in shape) to compete in the IFBB Ms. International.
She was not permitted to enter the contest by Wayne Demilia, head of the
IFBB Pro Division, because he said she had not sent in her entry form and
was therefore disqualified. Andrulla offered to pay all her own expenses,
but this offer was also refused.
Questions have been raised at to why the IFBB was so strict and letter-of-the-law in this case when there have been other instances of both male and female bodybuilders failing to send in required paperwork and yet being allowed to participate in the competition. Now Canadian physique reporter (and bodybuilder) Lisa Bavington has published her own report on the controversy, claiming that the rumoured threat of the pro women bodybuilders forming a union had a strong bearing on how Andrulla was treated.
